Building, strengthening and enhancing Bay of Plenty Communities

Grants

NOTE

Unfortunately BayTrust has not been immune from the problems affecting investors both worldwide and in NZ - although the Trust has good investment advisers and managers and a very well diversified investment portfolio it may be that the Trust will be unable to keep community funding at the high level that it has been during the last 2-3 years.  Obviously the Trust is keeping this matter under constant review.

Community organisations intending to apply for funding assistance are therefore urged to carefully consider whether now is the right time to apply.  (An organisation can apply only once in a 12 month period).

For further information please feel free to contact the Grants Advisor or Trust Manager on 0800 654 546 or 07 578 6546.

Who can apply?

Any properly constituted group serving one or more Bay of Plenty Communities.

How does my Group apply?

Complete an application form and post it, along with all the required documentation, to the Trust Office. (See Application Forms).

What sorts of things will the Trust support?

• Projects where at least 50% of the costs are not in place or firmly committed.
• More than one application from any organisation within a 12 month period.
• Activities or projects which the Trustees consider should be funded by Central or Local Government.

Organisations intending to make applications in these 8 categories immediately above are strongly advised to discuss their proposals with Trust Office staff first.

When can my Group apply and when do we hear the results?

You should apply at least six months before your project is due to start. There are no fixed “cut off” dates.

Successful grants are announced and paid in March, May, August and November each year.

Where else might I get funding assistance from?

A good place to start looking is the Funding Information Service website www.fis.org.nz.  This service is free to use at public libraries.

Funding Information Service is a not-for-profit organisation collecting and distributing information about funding by way of three separate searchable computer databases, FundView, CorporateCitizens and BreakOut.

FundView contains information about funding for community groups in New Zealand.

BreakOut holds information about awards, scholarships and grants for individual development.

CorporateCitizens holds details of New Zealand businesses that are committed to building relationships with community and voluntary organisations.

Other Bay of Plenty Funders may include the Tauranga Energy Consumer Trust, the Rotorua Energy Charitable Trust and the Lottery Grants Board.

Other Community Trusts include Auckland, Canterbury, Eastern & Central, Mid & South Canterbury, Otago, Southland, Taranaki, Waikato and Wellington, Whanganui and West Coast.
